Strategic Safeguarding Governor Training 5 November 2024

This is a training session specifically for Governing Body members, Safeguarding Governors, Headteachers and Directors of MAT’s and that will take them through their role and responsibilities under Keeping Children Safe in Education.

The course looks at the legislation, policies and procedures needed in school to meet these statutory responsibilities, considering how to test the effectiveness at every level. How Governors can be effective in ensuring that schools are keeping children as safe as possible in school and outside of school, whilst also improving their educational outcomes and wellbeing.

This training would be classed as Level 1.

Governing bodies and proprietors should ensure that all governors and trustees receive appropriate safeguarding and child protection (including online) training at

induction. This training should equip them with the knowledge to provide strategic challenge to test and assure themselves that the safeguarding policies and procedures in place in schools and colleges are effective and support the delivery of a robust whole school approach to safeguarding. Their training should be updated regularly. KCSIE Point 81 Page23/24
