Helen Hogan

Helen Hogan - I am a Consultant/Trainer specialising in the development of training courses for all school personnel working in the safeguarding arena. I have worked for Pam Gartland in PG: Safeguarding First LTD since 2014. I have responsibility within the business for advice and guidance, training facilitation and delivery (including Safer Recruitment), professional supervision and supporting schools in self-assessment of their safeguarding arrangements. I am a keen development officer and work within the company to drive forward the changes in safeguarding in to the hearts of schools, by organising and co-ordinating our termly events for schools designated safeguarding leads, developing the termly action plan and creating guidance documents/policies to support schools in their safeguarding practice. From 2010-2014 I worked as an Education Safeguarding Advisor for a Local Authority Education Safeguarding Team with responsibilities for supporting schools in all safeguarding matters and representing them on the Local Safeguarding Children Partnership in many of the sub groups. During this time I delivered multi-agency training for several statutory and voluntary agencies on behalf of the LSCP. I was also responsible as part of a team for the role of Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO). I am both a Qualified Teacher (BA Hons in Education at Durham University 2002), working in schools between 2002-2004 and a Social Worker (retraining at Durham University 2004-2006). From 2006-2010 I worked as a Frontline Social Worker and Principal Social Worker in Child Protection in a nearby Local Authority, where I had case responsibility and supervision of staff. I have a passion and enthusiasm for safeguarding children through good multi agency working that encourages and develops positive outcomes for all children. I believe that thorough, quality and reflective supervision in all agencies can make a difference to the lives of children.
